Traffic Commissariat

The traffic commissariat of the Euskirchen district police authority is housed in the new building of the Mechernich city administration at Bergstraße 5.

The traffic commissioner's office is responsible for processing
- traffic accidents,
- traffic offenses,
- traffic violations.

Another area of responsibility is traffic accident investigation.

The traffic commissioner's office also includes the traffic accident prevention/victim protection department. Traffic accident prevention includes the areas of road safety advice, traffic accident victim protection and traffic area design.

The head of this department is Chief Superintendent Christiane Fährmann.

Traffic service

The traffic service of the Euskirchen district police authority is also located at Bergstraße 5 in Mechernich.

The main tasks of the traffic service are to combat the main causes of accidents and to monitor commercial goods and passenger traffic.

With radar and laser measuring devices, the employees of the traffic service are deployed at accident blackspots, in front of kindergartens and schools and on rural roads to combat the main cause of accidents: speed.

The focus of the monitoring of goods and passenger transport is on checking compliance with dangerous goods and social regulations as well as the weight and load securing regulations for trucks and buses. The traffic service also monitors the functionality of technical equipment such as the steering and brakes of these vehicles.

The traffic service also carries out operations on special occasions, such as traffic control measures as part of major events, or at large events at the Nürburgring, at funfairs or carnival parades.

The traffic service works closely with the road traffic control authorities.

Head of the traffic service is Chief Superintendent Volker Braun.

Traffic Commissariat II (traffic accident investigation team)

The traffic commissariat II of the Euskirchen district police authority is located at Bergstraße 17 near the main building at Bergstr. 5.

The traffic commissariat II is responsible for the specialized investigation of objective findings in particularly serious traffic accidents. It is one of seventeen traffic accident investigation teams in NRW and is deployed throughout the state to investigate accidents.
