Young people, art and the police - can they go together? At the Mettmann district police authority, the answer is a resounding yes.

For years, the district police authority has been delighted to welcome artists to exhibit their works in the main building on Adalbert-Bach-Platz. Now the police are welcoming the works of young, creative minds aged between 10 and 18, who are pupils at the "Städtisches Gymnasium Wülfrath".

The vernissage for the exhibition will take place on Friday, March 31, 2024, from 3 to 5 p.m. in the foyer of the Mettmann police station, Adalbert-Bach-Platz 1 in Mettmann. Admission is free. Media representatives are also cordially invited to report on the opening of the exhibition.

Since 2008, the so-called Saturday studio of the "Städtisches Gymnasium Wülfrath" has been funded by the state program "Culture and School". Different workshops take place on eight Saturdays per school year. The young artists are accompanied by both the art teachers and two freelance artists: Milton Camilo, painter and dance and performance artist from Wuppertal for the painting section and Miri Kim, master student of Tony Cragg, from Düsseldorf for the sculpture studio.

"ART is very important at our school. It is a particular pleasure for our young artists to be able to have such a large and high-profile exhibition. This allows them to present their ambitious works from the fields of drawing, painting, printmaking and collage on the premises of the Mettmann Police Department," says the head of this year's Saturday studio, Ms. Angela Köhler.

Important note: Visitors can only visit the exhibition outside of the vernissage by prior appointment at the Mettmann Police Press Office, telephone 02104 / 982 1010, on weekdays from 9 am to 3:30 pm.
